John earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa with an accounting major. Prior to joining Winther, Stave & Co., LLP in 1991, John gained valuable experience working in Des Moines at KPMG, LLP, a national CPA firm and was also the corporate controller for Palmer Communications, a mid-size family owned diversified telecommunications company. John provides accounting, auditing, tax, and consulting services for family owned businesses, non-profits, and governmental entities. John became a partner in the firm in 2011. John was a volunteer board member of Arts on Grand in Spencer, has been active in various committees with his church, and is a past board member and volunteer for United Way of Spencer. John and his wife, Heidi, live in Arnolds Park and have two grown children.
